CRAM Roofing was established by Gary Cram in 1986 with two goals – first, to provide the ultimate in responsive customer service and, second, to provide an unmatched quality of performance and product. Committed to differentiating his company through wide-open client communication and project value, he knew it was critical to surround himself with employees of the same mindset.Over the years he has heavily invested in technological training and procured the best equipment available for his staff.
CRAM Roofing takes pride in our
employee retention, and as a result our craftsmen are
consistent, motivated and thorough. This vision has driven our company to become a premier choice of general contractors, property managers, roofing consultants and commercial/governmental property owners throughout the country. We are known for our customer loyalty, realistic work schedules, completion-date adherence, safety
record, environmental responsibility and highly ethical
work environment.

The Company objective was to establish itself in two distinct ways. First, CRAM Roofing was to have the best service department with the goal of setting the standard for being the most responsive roofing contractor in servicing customer’s chronic leak problems. The second objective was to become known for installing high-quality roofing systems in both the roof replacement and new construction markets.

As a result of a clear goal, CRAM Roofing has been able to capitalize on its reputation of outstanding job quality, excellent communication, the accomplishment of difficult project schedules and providing outstanding overall project satisfaction.

The Background Story

In 1986, while much of Texas was suffering through the Savings and Loans economic crisis, 27-year-old Gary Cram decided to establish his own roofing company. Having grown up working in a variety of construction fields and receiving a BS in Business, this was a natural next step for the young entrepreneur. Into the mix, throw in Cram’s sense of independence and you have all the ingredients for success.

The original staff consisted of Cram’s devoted mother, Norma Jean Cram (now deceased), Manuel Cantu and Cram. The fleet included a very old dump truck with a nice fresh coat of Cram red paint. Cram’s first move, once the shingle was hung, was to approach Mr. Tommy Price, at Southwest Research Institute requesting the opportunity to work on the campus of nearly two million square feet on 1,200 acres. Price’s willingness to give the young, ambitious Cram a chance grew into a lasting business relationship as well as a long-standing friendship. Cram Roofing Company has been doing business and making friends just like that since1986!

In 1988, Cram had the foresight to purchase an acre, complete with a duplex, on the Northwest side of San Antonio. This provided him an office very convenient to home. Over the years as Cram Roofing Company’s lot has grown to over nine acres, added a full-service sheet metal shop and undergone office renovations. The company has been able to maintain the same location since it was 18 months old. Cram Roofing Company prides itself in its shop, yard, office, technology and fleet. Each of these assets allows Cram Roofing to provide its clients with the best turn-key solutions for all their roofing needs.
